This is a pretty amazing performance. It’s almost hard to believe the audio matches the video.

Headline stolen from Slog. Kristen Wiig reads poetry by Suzanne Somers. Literally laugh-out-loud funny.

I have to admit I’m on a remix bender right now. Thankfully there is some truly brilliant stuff out there. YouTube user gazorra has discovered the abundance of editable Star Trek: TNG material. First, my favorites come in a pair:

User Fagottron on YouTube is creating what might be the next evolution of the remix: using source material from a single film for both audio and video editing. I’m sure it’s been done before, but rarely to this creative extent.
First my personal favorite remix, Mary Poppins:
Alice in Wonderland is the most popular:
Harry Potter is quite interesting:

A skilled independent musician–and, on occasion, bandmates–has taken news footage and last year’s debates and turned them into complete songs. He even coaxes the talking heads to sing along with Auto-Tune, the audio processor responsible for the influential Cher Effect and perfect pitching pop stars everywhere.

My personal favorite:

The ‘forbidden’ SNL skit October 14, 2008

An SNL skit lambasting House Democrats over the housing flop originally aired on October 4th. It was was pulled offline shortly thereafter. Arch-conservative bloggers were livid and ruminating all manners of conspiracy. Eventually an excised version reappeared on Hulu that removed references to threatening Herb Sandler, who had condemned the skit and probably had legal recourse.
Anyway, all that foofaraw aside, an uncensored version is available online and I highly recommend it:

There are lots of reasons to watch it. It’s one of the best SNL skits in years. It spoofs the House of Representatives, which is certainly rare in itself. It’s inaccurate at times, but focuses like a laser beam on House Democrat idiocy and minglings in relation to the housing crisis. It has possibly the world’s first Barney Frank impression (worth the cost of admission alone). It introduces George Soros to pop culture. And it’s amazingly cerebral for SNL.

Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog is probably the best web-only content ever released. Certainly the funniest and 100% Whedon. The first act is out now and you’ll soon be able to watch it for free at drhorrible.com They apparently changed servers and until the DNS change goes through you’ll have to point the URL to 207.57.78.179 in your hosts file (or so I’ve heard). I just paid $4 for all three acts on iTunes, which works fine.
